NYC & Amish Country

Our big trip this summer was heading to the east coast, but my dad may beg to differ that Pennsylvania is mid west... haha! We took a red eye flight into Newark, New Jersey.  Hannah got the most sleep out of anyone. Then we drove to Philadelphia picked up the engaged couple (also know as Lynelle & Tyler) and headed to Litz, Pennsylvania for 5 days. What do you do with 60+ Thompson on a farm?  Put them to work. Well, not the whole time, but we did have "farm day," where we got to pick our food for dinner, milk cows, shoot guns and arrows, and ride in an Amish spring carriage. The other days we we able to visit the historic field of Gettysburg and travel down to Baltimore, Maryland to watch a Orioles vs. Rays baseball game.  That game was the hottest I've been in my life, Hannah and I were so hot we had to leave early. The humidity on this trip confirmed that I am a Northwest native for life! After Scott & I committed that the next reunion in 2015 be in Portland we headed off to New York City! And such a fun city it is!  Now it's now stroller friendly, or even kid friendly but a couple of times I did spot out fellow babywearing mamas! When we did take the stroller the guys used their muscles. Things we did and see included: Ellis Island, Lady Liberty, 9/11 Memorial, Times Square, National History Museum, Central Park, Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street, NY Stock Exchange, & Rockefeller Center.  We crammed so much into each day.  We stayed at a B&B in Jersey City and took the train over the Manhattan.  Hannah was such a trooper, it really was the perfect age to travel with her.  During our stay we got to visit my sweet dear friend from college, Andrea who lives in Brooklyn.  It was fun to see more of a relaxed almost "Portland" side as she took us to one of her favorite vegan spots. After our 10 extravaganza we were home, and I was ready. Ready to be home in my own bed with my own sheets, there's nothing like it. The thing we weren't able to catch was a Broadway.  Now I'll HAVE to back and visit!

Mama & Baby Photo Shoot

Thanks to so many of our family and friends, Hannah and I won a mama & baby photo shoot with Ashley Marvin Photography!  Ashley is a friend from college and a creative and gifted photographer.  I highly recommend her. It was such a beautiful spot to take photos and I felt so comfortable with Ashley that we even got a couple of great nursing pics, some of my favorites! Here are more highlighted pics from the shoot back in July.  Hannah was exactly 8 months when we took them.
